David Deen is pursuing a master’s degree in Public Policy and Global Affairs from the University of British Columbia. He specializes in Asia Pacific trade, and energy and sustainability policies. David comes from a career in broadcast journalism with Al Jazeera English and is also has a Master of Journalism from Carleton University. He was born and raised in Toronto to parents from Cebu and Capiz in the Philippines’ Visayas region.
Cesar Ramirez is a Sociology and International Development Studies graduate from McGill University who will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology in the fall of 2022. He is interested in researching and understanding the dynamics of social change, policy formation, and social theory.
Ilesh Singh Thomas is a third-year student at McGill University studying History with a minor in Political Science, focusing on political theory. His interests lie primarily in histories of colonialism and the dynamics of inter-ethnic politics. Outside of school, his energies are devoted to his work as an executive for McGill’s WalkSafe and the newly-founded McGill Dharma Society. When he has the time, he wanders around Montréal looking for pretty buildings to admire.
Hensly Jocelle Pedrosa was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to Montreal, Quebec in 2015. She is a third year undergraduate Honours student in Political Science at Concordia University. She is actively working with non-profit organizations that seek to empower the Filipino community in Montreal. She is deeply committed to the empowerment of young people and women. Hensly likes singing and exploring new locations in Canada, as well as creating content for the multimedia committee she is now associated with.
Jon Marvin Reyes was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to Montreal, Quebec with his family in 2014. He currently studies Political Science at McGill University with particular interests in Canadian and Philippine politics, immigration policies, and social justice issues affecting visible minorities. He has various involvements with the Filipino community and English-speaking youth in Quebec. In his free time, he enjoys writing, watching movies, and taking pictures in the most esthetic places in Montreal.
Chloe Kang is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia studying Political Science and International Relations.
Daniel Jacinto (he/him) is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at McGill University. His academic interests centre on the politics and international relations of East Asia, with a focus on the Korean Peninsula.
Angela Wang is as a Research Assistant at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and works part time as the Director of the Americas Centre at the Centre for Youth and International Studies. She holds dual master’s degrees in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics and Peking University. She also completed two bachelor’s degrees in Education and French Studies with high distinction from Queen’s University. Prior to joining APF Canada, Angela conducted policy research for the United Nations Office in Nairobi and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Angela has a keen interest in foreign policy, international relations, and immigration and settlement studies.
Lina Park is a Simon Fraser University student majoring in International Studies. She is interested in issues related to human rights as well as promoting a better understanding of Asian identity across the Asia Pacific.
