Henry Wang

Dr. Henry Wang is the Director General of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Vice Chairman of the China Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA), the largest overseas returned scholars’ organization in China with over 50,000 members. He is also the Vice Chairman of China Talent Research Society of the Ministry of Human Resources & Social Security and Vice Chairman of the China International Economic Cooperation Society of Ministry of Commerce in China. In addition, he is a Vice Chairman of the Central Economic Committee of China Jiu San Society, as well as an Advising Member of CPPCC Beijing Committee.
Dr. Wang has been a senior advisor to the Chinese government at both central and local levels. He has served as a Task Force Leader for Global Talents Strategy Study Group of Central Government of China and an Economic Team Leader for Overseas Experts Advisory Committee of China State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office. Dr. Wang previously worked as an official for the Department of International Economic Cooperation of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade, a department looking after China’s going global initiatives.
Dr. Wang’s international experience includes serving as Chief Trade Representative for the Quebec Government Office in China and Hong Kong, Director of Asia of SNC-Lavalin and Vice President for AMEC-Agra in Canada. He has also worked as an adviser and consultant to GE, Siemens, Alston, ABB, Westinghouse, and Mitsubishi for their business strategies in China. His research focuses on global talents issues, China’s development model, Chinese returnees’ development, Chinese entrepreneurship, Chinese firms going global, overseas’ Chinese affairs and on global think tanks.
