Conseil de coopération économique du Pacifique (PECC)
Le Conseil de coopération économique du Pacifique (PECC) est un partenariat unique de représentants des affaires, des gouvernements et des milieux académiques provenant de 25 puissances économiques du Bassin du Pacifique et qui vise une collaboration accrue dans la région. L’approche tripartite du PECC est appliquée à une variété de projets de recherche de politiques sur des enjeux tels que la politique commerciale, le développement financier du marché, l’énergie et les villes au développement durable. Le Canada participe au PECC par l’intermédiaire du Comité canadien pour la coopération économique du Pacifique (CANPEC), qui est administré par la Fondation Asie Pacifique du Canada. Le président du CANPEC est Donald Campbell, conseiller stratégique principal au cabinet d’avocats Davis LLP de Vancouver. The Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) is a unique partnership of academic, business and government representatives from 25 Pacific Rim economies seeking closer economic cooperation in the region. PECC’s tripartite approach is applied to a variety of policy research projects on such issues as trade policy, financial markets development, energy, and sustainable cities. PECC has official observer status within the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and is involved in a number of research activities on behalf of the regional grouping.
Canada participates in PECC through the Canadian Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CANCPEC), which is administered by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.
The chair of CANCPEC is Donald Campbell, a senior strategy advisor to the Vancouver-based law firm Davis LLP, and the vice-Chair is Hugh Stephens, Principal, Trans-Pacific Connections.
PECC’s flagship annual publication, the State of the Region, includes economic forecasts from PECC member economies, as well as information and analysis on a cross-cutting themes of relevance to the region. The Canadian Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CANCPEC) at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is responsible for the activities of the State of the Region forecast group and manages the production of its annual publication.

Dr Hadi Soesastro, a founding member of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), Executive Director of INCPEC and International Chair of the Pacific Trade and Development (PAFTAD) Steering Committee passed away on May 4, 2010. Dr. Hadi was one of the intellectual founders of regionalism in Southeast Asia and the broader Asia Pacific. The impact his work had on ASEAN, APEC and PECC is immeasurable, not only because he was respected by decision-makers he worked with throughout the region but because of the generation of leaders he inspired and will continue to inspire through his writing. The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, its President and CEO Yuen Pau Woo and Distinguished Fellow Don Campbell express their deepest condolences to Dr. Hadi’s family for their loss.
