Not all foreign investment – whether from China or anywhere else – is equal. China seems mainly interested in Canada’s resources. Fine. Let them invest, develop the resources and create jobs here. After all, in the future they are not going to dismantle the mines and take them to China. But investment in knowledge-based industry should be looked at far more carefully. We have already sat silently by while Nortel’s technology has been transferred to foreign owners. We should not let that happen, especially to known technology thieves like the Chinese.
