Hank Bull: Branding Canada Through Arts and Culture in Asia

Why is it important for Canada to connect to Asia through the arts and culture? In this video, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada’s newly appointed Senior Fellow, Hank Bull, argues for strengthening Canada’s links to Asia through the arts. As an artist and curator, he maintains that we can better understand the dynamic growth and change underway in Asia through arts and culture. Canada has an opportunity to create spaces that allow for an exchange of information and ideas, and to significantly increase its profile and public diplomacy in Asia through the arts.

Thanks for another great interview. Hopefully the APFC and Hank Bull will be able to convince at least the BC provincial government to set-up coherent support for cultural exchanges in the arts with neighbours in the Asia Pacific. As Mr. Bull mentions, there is currently a paucity of fellowships and proactive measures by Canada to engage with artists, writers and other creatives across the Asia Pacific. I look forward to hearing more from the APFC on how Canada could and should support cooperation in the cultural and creative industries.Thanks for another great interview.
