Alberta Announces New International Strategy with Expanded Presence in Asia
The Government of Alberta has released a new international strategy that seeks to enhance access in priority markets and attract investment through a Team Alberta approach. The strategy will strengthen Alberta’s presence in growing and important markets, including doubling resources in its trade and investment office in Beijing, co-locating its Shanghai office with the federal government and establishing a new office in southern China. Atco Signs C$100M Deal to Supply Modular Units for LNG Project in Australia
Atco Structures & Logistics, part of the Calgary-based Atco Group of companies, reported it will supply 357 modular building units for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG Project in Western Australia in a deal valued at almost C$100 million. With international engineering company Bechtel, Atco’s Australian subsidiary will design, manufacture, transport and install the units. The Atco Group of companies provides business solutions in the areas of utilities, energy, structure and logistics, and technologies.
CCBC to Host ‘Attracting Chinese Investment’ Workshop in Markham, Ontario
The Canada China Business Council (CCBC) is hosting a workshop on attracting Chinese investment in Markham, Ontario on May 31. Experts presenting at the session include Mayor of the City of Markham, Frank Scarpitti; Todd Bissett, Partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP; Andy Chan, Partner at Miller Thomson LLP; CCBC’s Tony Gostling; and Loretta Yuen of the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment. Aimia Announces New Partnership in India with Axis Bank
Montreal-based loyalty management company Aimia Inc. has formed a partnership with Axis Bank, an Indian private-sector bank, launching its bankwide customer loyalty program, eDGE Loyalty Rewards. Aimia’s India office designed and deployed the program in partnership with Axis Bank, and will be responsible for its continuing management.
TAG Oil Sells Stake in New Zealand Power Generator to Coronado Resources
TAG Oil, a Vancouver-based production and exploration company with operations exclusively in New Zealand, has agreed to sell its 90% stake in Opunake Hydro Limited (OHL) to Coronado Resources Ltd. in exchange for common shares of Coronado valued at approximately C$5 million. Coronado Resources is a Vancouver-based mining company. OHL is an active power generation company based in New Zealand.
