BC, Alberta and Manitoba Provide Support for Pakistan Flood Victims

BC Premier Gordon Campbell announced that the province will provide $150,000 to the Red Cross to support flood victims in Pakistan. The Government of Alberta will donate $500,000 towards relief efforts in Pakistan. The money will come from the Other Initiatives Program administered by Alberta’s Ministry of Culture and Community Spirit and will be provided to the Canadian Red Cross to assist relief efforts underway in the country. Manitoba is giving an additional $100,000 to the Manitoba Council for International Co-operation (MCIC) to be used for emergency relief and recovery efforts in Pakistan. The commitment brings the total support the provincial government is providing to the MCIC to $200,000, which will ensure the money will be used for emergency relief and recovery efforts in Pakistan.
