BC Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, Pat Bell, announced that the provincial government will match the donations of five BC-based forest firms by sending another C$500,000 to Japan to help the Red Cross provide relief after last month’s earthquake and tsunami. Canfor, the Canfor Pulp Limited Partnership, Interfor, Tolko Industries and West Fraser Timber announced that they will each contribute C$100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross, which will transfer the money to the Japanese Red Cross to provide medical supplies, blankets, food, water and other materials.
