Canada Welcomes Youth Mobility Arrangement for Canadian and Taiwanese Youth
Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the memorandum of understanding on Youth Mobility, which came into effect on July 1, 2010. Canadian and Taiwanese youth now have new opportunities to improve their knowledge of each other’s language, culture and society by gaining unique travel, life and work experiences abroad. The Memorandum of Understanding marks the 22nd such arrangement implemented under Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada’s International Experience Canada (IEC) initiative. IEC fosters closer relations between Canada and other countries and territories through exchanges that give young people an understanding of other cultures through travel, life and work experience abroad. The MOU was signed by the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada. For information on how to apply, Canadians may consult Information for Youth Mobility Program Visa. Taiwanese may consult IEC. A maximum of 200 participants from each territory will be permitted to benefit from this arrangement in 2010.
