Canadian Embassy in Jakarta Hosts Business Conferences
The Canadian Embassy in Jakarta has organized several business conferences to take place this week to promote bilateral trade and investment relations. The series of conferences will take place in Jakarta, Makassar and South Sulawesi. Sectors to be covered during the conferences include mining and energy, agribusiness and biotechnology, furniture, textile industries and the environment. Ken Lewis, the embassy’s senior trade commissioner, said that Canadian companies have remained enthusiastic about opportunities in Indonesia and that he expected that most of the investment expansion in the next few years would be from companies already established in the country. He added that there was evidence that small and medium enterprises were making headway in their investments in Indonesia and cited furniture and environmental technologies as areas where new investment was forthcoming.
