Dia Met Minerals' Share Blocs for Sale
Kelowna-based diamond exploration company Dia Met Minerals Ltd. announced that it was looking for a buyer after two of the company’s shareholders, who together own a 38% interest, said that they wanted to sell their shares. Analysts believe that there are only two companies interested in making a bid – South Africa’s De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd. and Australia’s Broken Hill Proprietary Co, Ltd. (BHP). Dia Met is in a joint-venture partnership with BHP Diamonds, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BHP Ltd., in the Ekati diamond mine project in the Northwest Territories – the country’s first operating diamond mine. Dia Met has a 29% interest in the project and BHP has a 51% interest.
