Minister of State Rob Moore Concludes Tourism Mission to China
Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), accompanied by provincial tourism ministers, officials and key industry members, spent five days meeting with Chinese government, industry and media representatives in Shanghai and Beijing. A key focus of the trip was maximizing the opportunities presented by Canada’s new Approved Destination Status (ADS) with China. The delegation participated in roundtable meetings with small business and tourism operators and industry representatives and bilateral meetings with Chinese officials of the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration and Beijing Tourism Administration. They attended the Canadian Tourism Commission’s Showcase Canada - Asia 2010, an event that brought together tourism buyers and sellers from Canada, China, Japan, India and South Korea. They also met with Chinese government representatives to outline steps being taken by governments and industry to facilitate travel.
