National Research Council Canada Signs Four Research Contracts in China

The National Research Council Canada Centre for Surface Transportation Technology (NRC-CSTT) and three Chinese organizations announced that they have signed four research contracts. These new agreements mark a development in the revitalization of the Chinese rail sector and showcase Canadian railway engineering expertise. They include: an agreement with Qiqihar Railway Rolling Stock (Group) Co. Ltd., a railcar manufacturer for the Chinese freight railway market, for the analysis of rail and wheel wear; two separate agreements for the development of a high-speed rail-grinding program and for the development of instrumented wheelsets for high-speed rail operations with Southwest Jiaotong University; and a contract for technical advice to Tongji University, an engineering university, to develop a physical test centre for assessing China’s passenger and metropolitan rail systems.
