Vietnamese Foreign Minister Visits Canada
Foreign Affairs Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Dy Nien, is visiting Ottawa and Quebec City from September 17 to 20, 2003. His visit coincides with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bill Graham, said that ‘Canada’s relations with Vietnam have progressed considerably in the last 30 years. I look forward to exploring ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the areas of good governance and trade.’ Canada provides approximately $26 million in development assistance to Vietnam annually directed toward transparent and accountable governance, agriculture and rural development, and education.
