Canada recorded a total trade surplus of 6% with the world in 2017. There was a growth of 7.5% in total trade between Canada and the Asia/Oceania region. Canada’s total trade with the United States, our top trading partner, saw an increase of 5%. Exports to the Asia/Oceania region increased 10%, while imports from the European region rose by almost 10%.
