APF Canada Hosts CEO Roundtable with Philippines President

VANCOUVER, BC – May 7, 2015 — The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada), with support from Sun Life Financial and in association with the Canada-ASEAN Business Council, is hosting a roundtable in Toronto, Ontario on May 8, 2015 with H.E. Benigno Simeon Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, and prominent members of the Canadian business community.

The roundtable will provide an opportunity for Canadian executives to discuss opportunities for trade and investment with the Philippines, a priority market for Canada.

The Philippines is Chair of APEC in 2015, and shares Canada's commitment to engaging small-and medium-sized enterprises in the global economy.

"As Canada's Secretariat for the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), we are honoured to host this high-level gathering to further trade, investment and economic linkages between our two countries," said Stewart Beck, President and CEO of APF Canada. "The Philippines is an important member of ASEAN, a dynamic and growing region with a GDP of almost $2.5 trillion that offers a wealth of opportunities for Canadian businesses."

"It's a pleasure to help welcome President Aquino to Canada," said Dean Connor, President & Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Financial. "Sun Life first entered the Philippines in 1895 and over the years has grown to become a strong and vibrant business – the country's leading life insurance company."

Stewart Beck and Dean Connor will be available for media interviews immediately following the roundtable.
