Paul Brennan: Why More Canadian Students Should Go Abroad

Paul Brennan, VP for International Partnerships at the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC ) discusses Canada’s college sector. He underscores a report which found only 1% of Canadian college, and 2.4% of university students spend part of their post-secondary years studying abroad. He emphasizes what needs to be done to change this, and speaks to the steps taken to make Canada a more attractive destination for international students.

Good on the ACCC and Paul Brennan for taking on this important issue! As most governments recognize, providing opportunities for young people to study abroad is a key aspect of human resource development. We have excellent universities and colleges in Canada but there is always something to be gained by studying in parts of the world very different from our own.
