Canada to Explore Possible New Infrastructure Projects in Taiwan
Taiwan’s Public Construction Commission has held discussions about Canadian participation in new infrastructure projects in Taiwan under Taiwan’s build-operate transfer (BOT) arrangement. According to the BOT arrangement, a private firm, contracted to work with the Taiwan government, will construct and operate an infrastructure project for a period of time before turning operation over to the Taiwan government. The projects under consideration are worth an estimated US$4 billion, and include a light rail system, a metro system, a cable car system, and various land development projects.
