CIDA Pledges to Provide Additional Support to Treat TB in Afghanistan

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) announced that it will provide a C$1.79 million grant to assist Afghanistan in that country’s treatment of tuberculosis (TB). CIDA had previously provided C$6 million for Afghanistan’s TB program. The grant will facilitate research into why the infection rate among women is higher than among men. In addition, it will help to support civil society efforts to assist women’s organizations in rural areas.
