IDRC Awards Grants to 16 South Asian Think Tanks

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC), through its Think Tank Initiative, has awarded grants totaling US$35 million to 12 South American and 16 South Asian think tanks, or independent policy research institutions. The South Asian think tanks are Centre for Policy Dialogue (Bangladesh), Institute of Governance Studies (Bangladesh), Centre for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (India), Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (India), Centre for Policy Research (India), Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (India), Indian Institute of Dalit Studies (India), Institute of Economic Growth (India), National Council of Applied Economic Research (India), Institute of Rural Management (India), Public Affairs Centre (India), Institute for Social and Environmental Transition Nepal (Nepal) , Social Policy and Development Centre (Pakistan), Sustainable Development Policy Institute (Pakistan), Centre for Poverty Analysis (Sri Lanka) and Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka) . The Initiative aims to strengthen the roles of think tanks as influential players in national policymaking. Each think tank will receive long-term funding, enabling them to conduct research that is fundamental to the development of sound policy. IDRC supports research in developing countries to promote growth and development.
