India's Minister for Road Transport and Highways to Visit Canada this Week
Kamal Nath, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, will travel to Canada this week for a four-day visit, accompanies by representatives from leading businesses in India. While in Canada, the minister will be seeking investment in his country’s infrastructure. The minister will meet with Minister of International Trade, Peter Van Loan, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, John Baird, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Quebec Premier, Jean Charest and other government and business officials. Canada-India Business Council president Rana Sarkar said that “Canada has a huge opportunity to enter India’s infrastructure sector which needs $500 billion in the current plan. Kamal Nath will look for private partners — banks, pensions fund, etc. — to invest in India’s infrastructure development…The minister’s mission is to involve Canadians both as investors and infrastructure providers in India.”
