Media Fellowship Recipients Announced by the Asia Pacific Foundation

The Asia Pacific Foundation announced the recipients of its 2008 Media Fellowship program that offers established Canadian journalists, in any media channel, the opportunity to spend time in Asia researching and preparing stories and programs. The Foundation awarded four grants this year of $10,000. The Media Fellowships are part of the Asia Pacific Foundation Research Grants Program, funded through the proceeds of an endowment established by the Government of Canada and designed to stimulate informed discussion on Canada’s relations with Asia. The 2008 Media Fellows are: Marie-France Belanger, Radio Canada, ‘Canadian-Vietnamese Return to Vietnam;’ Miro Cernetig, The Vancouver Sun, ‘The Canadian Diaspora in Asia;’ Robin Gill, Global News, Toronto, ‘Canadian Influences in India;’ and Nathan Vanderclippe, National Post, ‘China’s Forestry Revolution.’ The winner of the Fellowship Program for the Foreign Press Centre, Japan, is Noemi Mercier of Quebec Science, who will be focusing on nuclear energy in Japan.
