PEI Ships Live Island Canner Lobsters to China

The Price Edward Island Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development Minister, Neil LeClair, announced that a pilot project to ship live canner lobsters to the Chinese market is well underway. Under the project, the PEI government is working with local businesses, the AVC Lobster Science Centre and the Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association to ship live canner lobsters to markets in several Chinese cities. Logistics support for the project has been provided by the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Rural Development, Innovation PEI, and Sunrise Innovative Enterprises Ltd. The project’s initial focus is to collect information using a mix of existing and new customers in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao and Xiamen.
