ProMetic Announces Strategic Alliance with China's Wuhan Institute of Biological Products

ProMetic Life Sciences Inc., a Montreal-based biopharmaceutical company, and the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products, a biomedical research subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (WIBP), announced that they have signed a strategic alliance and license agreement to manufacture plasma-derived products. Under the terms of the agreement, WIBP will gain access to ProMetic’s plasma protein purification system for the Chinese market. Upon successfully implementing this technology, WIBP will be able to build its capability to manufacture plasma-derived products in China. The products being targeted initially will include thrombin, fibrinogen, albumin, intravenous immunoglobulin, Alph-1 protease inhibitor and multiple hyperimmunoglobulins such as anti-hepatitis B immunoglobulin, anti-rabies immunoglobulin, anti-tetanus immunoglobulin.
