Toronto Mayor John Tory and Councillors Michael Thompson and Neethan Shan will join a delegation of Toronto companies and organizations on a business mission to India and Sri Lanka from March 15 to 24. The mission will focus on the growing Indian film and media, technology, financial, and education sectors, promoting Toronto as a preferred North American investment location. In India the delegation will visit Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. Mayor Tory and some delegates will meet with Indian and international conglomerates and tech companies, including Paytm, Datawind, as well as the T-Hub Incubator and Zone Startups India (a partnership between the Bombay Stock Exchange and Ryerson Futures Inc). Mayor Tory will also participate in a keynote discussion with Toronto-based filmmaker Deepa Mehtaat at the opening of a major global media and entertainment convention in Mumbai. In Sri Lanka the delegation will visit Colombo and the Northern Province.
