Trade Minister Addresses American Chamber of Commerce, Makes Case for Partnership in Asian Markets

Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, Ed Fast, spoke to members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ottawa noting that Canada and the US needed to deepen their own bilateral trade while working together to pursue new opportunities in the Asia Pacific region. Minister Fast stated that because Canada and the US have “highly integrated economies and competitive advantages fueled by our supply chains,” and share similar views on “labour, investment and regulatory cooperation,” Canada should join negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement.
