Politics, Policy and Diplomacy

Asian countries are gaining a greater voice in international institutions such as the G20, the UN and the IMF. Canada can capitalize on this development to deepen its bilateral and multilateral relationships with Asian partners. In addition, regional forums such as the East Asia Summit are trying to assert themselves as more robust institutions. Can Canada leverage its international reputation to play a constructive role in Asia and ensure that the Canadian voice is heard in the Asia Pacific region? If yes, what is needed? A comprehensive Asia strategy? A soft power strategy? A more active mediation role?
