Soraya Parwani is in her final year at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Economics. She is a Public Affairs Assistant with TransLink, the statutory authority responsible for the regional transportation network of Metro Vancouver. Soraya is passionate about Central Asian affairs, primarily post-conflict state building and democratic peacekeeping missions. She is currently writing a journal article titled, Elections in Afghanistan and Iraq Post-Conflict: A Comparative Study for the Organization for Policy Research and Development Studies' (DROPS) Journal of Public Policy.
Soraya's most recent projects include being a delegate at the "Canada and Peacekeeping" event hosted by World Vision and UBC, and a youth delegate for the "Youth as Peace Builders" forum hosted by the United Nations Association in Canada, in partnership with UBC. Soraya has done internships in Afghanistan at DROPS and Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan.
