Vancouver, BC – August 2, 2013 - The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada today announced the appointment of Kasi Rao as Vice-President and Director of the Foundation’s Toronto Office.
"Kasi brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and connections to APF Canada. His background in public policy, higher education, and business development will strengthen our capabilities in these areas, and help build a stronger presence for the Foundation in the Greater Toronto Area,” said Mr. Yuen Pau Woo, President and CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.
Mr. Rao worked in the public and private sectors, including as Executive Director of the Beacon Project at University of Ontario Institute of Technology; Director of Operations, Office of the President and CEO at BMO Financial Group; Director, Office of the President and Director of Government Relations, University of Toronto; and in various roles with the Province of Ontario including Senior Policy Advisor, Ontario Government office (New York City), and Policy Advisor, Office of the Premier. He has an M.A. (Political Science) from the University of Toronto and a B.A. (Political Science) from the University of Waterloo.
Mr. Rao is Senior Advisor on India at the law firm of Bennett Jones. He was a member of the Organizing Committee of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in 2011 - when India's largest diaspora conference was held in Toronto. In 2012, he was recognized as "Member of the Year" by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce. He is also a recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for his involvement in Canada-India initiatives.
