Vancouver, BC – October 24, 2013 - The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada today announced the appointment of The Honourable David L. Emerson, P.C., O.B.C., a corporate director and public policy advisor and senior advisor to CAI, and David Mulroney, Former Canadian Ambassador to China, as distinguished fellows.
“Both David Emerson and David Mulroney have distinguished records of service in the public sector and leadership on policy issues,” said Mr. Yuen Pau Woo, President and CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. “We are honoured to have them join the APF Canada team.”
The Foundation also announced that it has re-appointed Joseph Caron, Former Canadian Ambassador to China, Japan and High Commissioner to India, and Don Campbell, Co-Chair of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, as distinguished fellows.
As distinguished fellows, they will offer input and advice to assist the Foundation’s mission of building strong relations between Canada and Asia, drawing on their knowledge and experience as leading public policy figures.
The Honourable David L. Emerson, P.C., O.B.C., is a corporate director, public policy advisor and serves as a senior advisor to CAI, a private equity fund. Dr. Emerson has held many notable positions with the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as positions in the private sector.
A career Foreign Service officer, David Mulroney previously served as Ambassador of Canada to the People's Republic of China, Deputy Minister responsible for the Afghanistan Task Force at the Privy Council Office, Secretary to the Independent Panel on Canada's Future Role in Afghanistan and as Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and, concurrently, as the Prime Minister's Personal Representative to the G8 Summit.
A Senior Strategy Advisor at Davis LLP in Vancouver, Don Campbell is Co-Chair of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC). Formerly Deputy Minister in Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Executive Vice-President of CAE Inc., Mr. Campbell has served as the Prime Minister’s Personal Representative at G-8 Summits and as Canada’s Ambassador to Japan and South Korea.
Joseph Caron joined the Trade Commissioner Service in 1972 and has served as Canada's Ambassador to China, Japan and High Commissioner to the Republic of India. Mr. Caron is also Honorary Professor at the Institute of Asian Research with the University of British Columbia.
