Vancouver, BC – December 30, 2013 – The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada congratulates Mr. Hartley Richardson on his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada. Mr. Richardson, who received his initial appointment as a member of the Order of Canada in 2007, received a promotion to Officer for “his unwavering civic engagement and for his contributions as a business and community leader”.
Mr. Richardson is President and Chief Executive Officer of James Richardson & Sons, Limited in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and a former Board Member of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. He is the past Chairman of the Business Council of Manitoba; Co-Chairman of TransCanada Trail Foundation; and Chairman of the Board of Governors for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Charter for Business. He is also a Director of Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc., Canadian Pacific Railway, NeuroMed Technologies Inc. and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
The Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest civilian honours, was established in 1967, during Canada’s centennial year, to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
