Prashant Pathak, Daniel Savas, and Don Devoretz Appointed Fellows of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada

Vancouver, BC -  August 25, 2014 – The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) today announced the appointment of Prashant Pathak as an Executive-in-Residence, Daniel Savas as a Polling Advisor, and Don Devoretz as a Senior Associate.

Mr. Pathak is CEO of Ekagrata Inc., a principal investment company, and is also Managing Partner of ReichmannHauer Capital Partners, a private equity firm. He is Chair of the Venture Capital and Investments Committee for BDC Venture Capital, which is Canada’s largest venture capital program. As an Executive-in-Residence with the APF Canada, Mr. Pathak will provide input and advice to APF Canada’s research, events, and major projects related to Canada-Asia two-way business and investment.

Dr. Savas is a public affairs and market research polling specialist with more than 25 years of experience. He is currently Visiting Professor, Simon Fraser University, and was previously Senior Vice-President of Ipsos Reid, Canada’s largest and best known public opinion research firm. As a Polling Advisor, Mr. Savas will provide input and advice on APF Canada’s polling research activities.

Dr. Devoretz is a Professor of Economics Emeritus at Simon Fraser University, and recently directed the Canadians Abroad Project at APF Canada. The Canadians Abroad project was a research initiative led by APF Canada under Dr. Devoretz’s direction in an effort to track the size and characteristics of Canadians living abroad. As a Senior Associate, Dr. Devoretz will continue to work with APF Canada on issues related to citizenship and immigration.

In addition to the three new appointments, Stockwell Day, Former President of the Treasury Board and Former Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Leonard J. Edwards, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs were reappointed as Distinguished Fellows; Douglas Horswill, Senior Vice President, Teck Resources Limited was reappointed as an Executive-in-Residence; and Michael Goldberg was reappointed as a Scholar-in-Residence.
