Alberta Biotech Firm Ceapro Receives Patent in India

Edmonton, Alberta-headquartered Ceapro Inc. has received a patent from the Indian Patent Office related to its pressurized gas expanded (PGX) technology. The patent, entitled "Supercritical Fluid Treatment of High Molecular Weight Biopolymers," is for Ceapro's novel spray drying technique for processing water-soluble biopolymers with applications largely for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Ceapro said in a release that India represents a large potential market with numerous contract manufacturers in the pharmaceutical industry that it believes could benefit from the company's PGX technology, which already has patent protection in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
