Federal ministers and Atlantic premiers announced on July 10, 2018 that they will lead a multi-sectoral trade and investment mission to China in mid-November 2018. The mission will support Atlantic Canadian businesses and organizations in targeted sectors that are looking to create new partnerships and build business-to-business relationships in China, Canada’s second largest trading partner after the United States. This mission supports the trade and investment pillar of the Atlantic Growth Strategy which is designed to expand Atlantic Canada’s international markets, and promote and position the region to attract new investments and tourism. The mission aims to facilitate market access for Atlantic Canadian small- and medium-sized enterprises that are export-ready and have an ability to do business in the China market; create trade and investment opportunities for Atlantic Canadian businesses, and promote Canada as a prime tourism destination by leveraging the Canada-China Year of Tourism. The mission will visit Qingdao, Shanghai and Beijing.
