BC’s Biba Awarded Financing to Build Tech Playgrounds Globally

Vancouver, British Columbia-headquartered Biba, a pioneer behind a movement aimed at getting kids healthy and active through the use of technology on the playground, has announced it has been selected as one of the 17 innovative Canadian companies to share a pot of C$20 million in funding from Western Economic Diversification Canada to scale up for the global stage. Biba has also raised more than C$1.5 million in seed capital for its “smart playgrounds” as well as financing from the Canada Media Fund, Global Affairs Canada, and various provincial programs. Biba has close to 4,000 playgrounds worldwide, which are equipped with easy-to-install augmented reality markers, including in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
