Canadian Minister of Small Business and Tourism Concludes Five-city Visit to China

Bardish Chagger, Minister of Small Business and Tourism and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, has concluded a five-day trip to China, with visits to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Guiyang and Beijing. Minister Chagger was a member of the Right Honorable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada’s official visit to China. During the visit, the minister promoted Canada ahead of the Canada-China Year of Tourism in 2018 and delivered a high-level keynote address at the She-ERA Global Conference on Women and Entrepreneurship hosted by the Chinese e-commerce company, Alibaba. China is one of Canada's fastest-growing tourism markets and is now Canada’s third-largest tourism source market. In 2016, 610,000 Chinese nationals visited Canada and spent an estimated C$1.25 billion.
