China’s Nexen Invests C$400 Million in Alberta's Oil Sands

Alberta’s Premier Rachel Notley and Energy Minister Margaret McCuaig-Boyd joined Nexen officials, First Nations enterprises, and other local suppliers to highlight a C$400 million investment by Nexen in Alberta’s Long Lake South West project. Nexen is a wholly owned subsidiary of Beijing-based state-owned enterprise CNOOC Ltd. The project expects to achieve first oil production in 2020, and will produce 26,000 barrels per day once it reaches full capacity.
