Minister MacAulay Leads Canadian Delegation at the China International Import Expo

Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay is currently in Shanghai participating in the international Import Expo, which runs from November 5 to 10. Minister MacAulay witnessed important signing ceremonies between Canadian companies and their Chinese counterparts, worth approximately C$620 million, in sectors ranging from agri-food and aerospace to life sciences and transportation. China is Canada’s second-largest single-country merchandise trading partner, and the trade between the two countries reached nearly C$94.5 billion, accounting for 8.4 per cent of Canada’s total merchandise trade in 2017. The 2017 agricultural trade mission to China generated over C$300 million in new sales.
