Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade Diversification Omar Alghabra concluded the first Government of Canada-led Indigenous trade mission to New Zealand. He participated in a roundtable on Indigenous economic development and trade on the margins of the World Indigenous Business Forum (WIBF) alongside Australia and Chile. Parliamentary Secretary highlighted Canada’s efforts on Indigenous business development and committed to continue the dialogue in next year’s WIBF in Canada. He also met with business stakeholders in Auckland to connect Indigenous businesses and promote Canadian business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. The mission provided an opportunity to demonstrate Canada’s commitment to strengthen Indigenous-to-Indigenous partnerships around the globe and represents a small step for economic reconciliation at home.
