Vancouver’s Reliq Health Tech Announces Pilot with Australia’s Royal Flying Doctor Service

Vancouver, B.C.-headquartered Reliq Health Technologies Inc., a technology company that develops mobile health and telemedicine solutions for the community-based health-care market, has signed an agreement to conduct a three-month paid pilot of its iUGO Care remote patient monitoring platform with the Royal Flying Doctor Service Central Operations (RFDS) in remote South Australia, beginning this fall. The iUGO Care platform allows medics to remotely monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, blood glucose, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and lung function, and receive automated alerts if there are any abnormalities in the readings. The RFDS provides extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to approximately half a million people (2.05 per cent of the Australian population) who live in remote and very remote communities in Australia. According to RFDS data people in remote communities are 1.6 times more likely to be hospitalized for coronary heart disease than people in major cities and are 1.3 times more likely to die.
