Vancouver, BC – June 8, 2016 – The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) has announced the selection of four new Post-Graduate Research Fellows for 2016-17 as the result of a competitive process. Each fellow will develop an Asia-facing research project that will include a focus on policy implications for Canada, and contribute to other Foundation projects enhancing Canada’s engagement with Asia.
The Post-Graduate Research Fellowships are part of APF Canada’s granting program established in 2007 to build capacity through research about Canada’s relations with the Asia Pacific.
The Post-Graduate Research Fellows for 2016-17 are:
Joelle Charbonneau, who has a Master of Arts in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, University of Waterloo. She will undertake research on Canada-Asia trade and investment issues, especially with Southeast Asian countries.
Justin Kwan, who is completing his master’s degree in Asia Pacific Policy Studies at the University of British Columbia. He will be conducting research on building the Asia-related skills and competencies of Canada and Canadians.
Amar Nijhawan, who is completing her Master of Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her work will focus on India-Canada trade relations and links to Indian diaspora communities in Canada.
Linda Qian, who is completing her Master of Science at the University of Oxford. She will explore new opportunities for Canada-China relations.
