Charlene Brophy is President & CEO of Fonemed, a global healthcare services organization delivering virtual care, telehealth, and technology-enabled clinical solutions to healthcare systems, governments, and enterprise clients. Over nearly three decades, she has led the company’s growth from a regional provider in Newfoundland and Labrador to an international organization supporting more than 40 million individuals across Canada, the United States, Latin America, and Asia, delivering over 100,000 virtual care interactions each month. Fonemed continues to expand globally, with active operations in Singapore and ongoing expansion into Saudi Arabia through strategic partnerships and the deployment of advanced virtual care and diagnostic technologies. Under her leadership, Fonemed has developed its proprietary Florizel clinical platform alongside a suite of integrated care solutions, including Care Pods, Black Bags, and mobile care units. These solutions enable comprehensive remote clinical assessments through integrated diagnostics such as digital stethoscopes, otoscopes, vital signs monitoring, and other connected devices, bringing hands-on, high-quality care closer to patients in both urban and remote settings. Charlene’s leadership is grounded in practical innovation that improves access, efficiency, and outcomes across healthcare systems. She has been widely recognized for her contributions to healthcare innovation and business leadership, including being named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs for five consecutive years and induction into both the Atlantic Business Magazine Hall of Fame and the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame. She currently serves as Board Chair of NL Organization of Women Entrepreneurs and is President-Elect of the Rotary Club of St. John’s. Charlene remains deeply committed to advancing equitable access to care globally. Charlene has extended her firsthand understanding of the health care system to underserved regions in developing countries and communities across North America, Latin America, and Asia. Fonemed's team of several hundred employees facilitates Canadian, U.S., and international operations, ensuring health care access for over 40 million individuals globally, managing 100,000 remote patient visits each month.
