Young Canadians in the 21st Asia-Pacific Century: Opportunities and Preparation
As the 21st century is widely considered to be the century of the Asia-Pacific, Canadian governments, both at the federal and provincial levels, have made efforts to expand their relations with Asian countries through trade & investment. A question has arisen: How can young Canadians prepare for the Asia-Pacific Century? The Asia Pacific Youth Council (APYC) will be hosting an event to address this issue. The speaker panel includes experts from the areas of academia, government and business in Asia-related positions. The panel will discuss the emergence of the Asia-Pacific, introduce what opportunities there are for young Canadians in the region, and highlight what skills/experiences young Canadians would need to prepare for this era of Asia-Pacific.
Speakers include: Dr. Paul Evans, Professor at Institute of Asian Research & Liu Institute for Global Issues, UBC; Mr. Paul Irwin, Executive Director, East Asia at Trade & Invest British Columbia; Ms. Carolyn Bailey-Ling, Trade Commissioner at Global Affairs Canada, Pacific Regional Office and Aaron Cho, Fourth-year Finance & Human Resources Co-op Student, UBC Sauder School of Business.
Free Admission.
