Student Event - May 2016 Philippine Elections
UPDATE: Based on this event, we have brought together to form an ‘election watch’ of the May 9 election in the Philippines. This group comprises of eight students from the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University whose goal is to learn and inform others about the election – the candidates and what issues are pressing for voters.
The group has created a blog site that details their analysis of the election. Please visit their site at www.asiaelections.com. As well, two of the blogs have been published through our foundation’s website. You can read those blogs at http://www.asiapacific.ca/blog/student-initiative-philippines-election-watch-2016. They have also produced a final report - here is the link https://asiaelections.com/2016/06/21/philippine-election-2016-final-report/.
Mr. Joseph Morong, Senior Reporter for the GMA Network in the Philippines presents his views on the May 2016 Philippine election and Philippine politics during this student-only discussion. Mr. Morong is the winner of this year’s McLuhan Fellowship, an annual award given by Canada to a journalist in the Philippines for excellence in reporting.
There is limited seating. Please RSVP as soon as possible. You will be contacted to reconfirm your attendance once registered.
