Ms. Barrineau, currently a Senior Director with APF Canada, will work with APF Canada’s executive team in Vancouver, Toronto and Regina to further define the strategic planning and future vision of the Foundation, and to oversee the business development and organizational activities of APF Canada, as well as plan and execute major events, and act as the Foundation’s leading liaison with government officials and APF Canada’s distinguished Board of Directors.
“Vilupti has extensive project management experience on the global stage, and in the Asia Pacific region specifically,” said APF Canada President and CEO, Stewart Beck. “She has led major international and corporate initiatives, including ground-breaking programs for the United Nations and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.”
Added Beck: “Vilputi’s work in addressing poverty, financial inclusion, health access, and women’s rights has been exemplary, and I look forward to working more closely with her as our Foundation amplifies its role as a catalyst for deeper Canada-Asia engagement.”
Ms. Barrineau has championed the causes of equality, malaria mitigation, and micro-credit access for the UN and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She was Managing Director of the ‘Financial Access Initiative’ for Harvard, Yale, and New York universities, and established and managed the ‘Global Network for Banking Innovation in Microfinance’ for Women's World Banking.
She has worked globally with finance ministries, central banks, and heads of state, and pioneered new thinking on financial inclusion that led to the World Bank and IMF’s global indicator on financial inclusion. As a volunteer, Ms. Barrineau has organized major international concerts to promote music and peace, and is a well-known public speaker. She holds an MBA from the University of British Columbia.
“I have been deeply impressed by the work of the Foundation in building bridges across the Asia Pacific region – work that is consistently underpinned by forward-thinking research and results in new programming and policy,” said Barrineau. “I am delighted to take on a larger role as part of the leadership team at the Foundation."
