Andrew Tan
Andrew Tan was formerly managing director with Temasek International, a global investment firm headquartered in Singapore. He joined as an operating partner in the Enterprise Development Group, and later as managing director of the new Strategy Office from 2019–22.
Prior to joining Temasek, Mr. Tan spent nearly three decades with the Singapore Administrative Service in senior positions across key agencies, including the Ministry of Information & the Arts, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office (as the Principal Private Secretary to Senior Minister/Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew), the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, and the Ministry of Transport.
He later became the CEO of the National Environment Agency from 2009–13 and founding director of the Centre for Liveable Cities from 2008–10. He was also chief executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore from 2014–18.
Mr. Tan graduated with First Class Honours in History from King's College, University of London, in 1989. He attended the Edward S Mason Programme at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he obtained his Master’s in Public Administration in 2002. He also attended the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD Business School at Fontainebleau.
He is an independent non-executive director of several listed and private companies, including Keppel Data Centre REIT Management, Kim Heng Ltd, and GoTyme Digital Bank in the Philippines. He also sits on the Singapore Management University’s Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Enterprise Board.
