Umi Ariga

Research Fellow, Japan Institute of International Affairs

Umi Ariga is a Research Fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs, where she leads research on emerging technologies. Her work focuses on nuclear policy and the governance of emerging technologies. Previously, she was a Japan Chair Fellow at the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation and has worked with JP Morgan, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, and NATO. Umi holds master’s degrees from the University of Tokyo and Seoul National University and is fluent in English, French, and Japanese.
