Yu Cai Tian

Yu Cai is a lawyer and public servant with experience in public international law, particularly in international trade and investment law. He serves as Legal Counsel at Global Affairs Canada’s Trade Law Bureau, where he represents Canada in international trade and investment disputes, participates in free trade agreement negotiations, and advises Canada on its international obligations. He previously worked with the United Nations on issues relating to international trade and the environment. Yu Cai holds an LL.B. [Civil Law] and a J.D. [Common Law] from the Université de Montréal, as well as an LL.M. [International Law] summa cum laude from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. He is a member of the Barreau du Québec, the Law Society of Ontario, and the New York State Bar.
