Canada in India: Strengthening Relations through Dialogue

Event Video Cover

Building on the momentum and outcomes of the G20 Summit, where Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed in a joint statement to launch negotiations towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), APF Canada was in New Delhi, India, from November 24–26.

With partners including the New Delhi–based Council for Strategic and Defence Research (CSDR), the Ananta Aspen Centre, and the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber, along with the Canadian High Commission in India and the India–Canada Research Initiative (launched this year by APF Canada in partnership with CSDR), this week of engagements in India focused on the Canada–India “reset” and on deepening strategic dialogue in the region. This followed Prime Minister Carney’s formal acceptance of Prime Minister Modi’s invitation to visit India in early 2026, as the two countries chart an ambitious roadmap integrating trade diversification, investment, energy co-operation, and technology partnerships.

Speakers from the week highlight their key takeaways and future outlooks on the Canada–India relationship.
