Panel participants in Ottawa

As Canada reviews its foreign policy priorities in 2025, the strategic imperative to diversify not only trade and economic but also political and security partnerships has become more pressing.

On October 1, 2025, APF Canada hosted a panel discussion on the shifting security and geopolitical dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region as part of our inaugural Indo-Pacific Forum.

Panelist discussion, as well as welcome remarks by APF Canada President & CEO, Jeff Nankivell, highlighted the importance of Canada's security engagement in the region and strategies for leveraging the country's Indo-Pacific partners to shore up critical supply chains amidst global economic turbulence

Speakers:

  • Victor Cha, President, Geopolitics and Foreign Policy Department, and Korea Chair, Center for Strategic and International Studies
  • General Wayne Eyre, Senior Fellow, University of Ottawa; Canada’s Former Chief of the Defence Staff
  • Vina Nadjibulla, Vice-President Research & Strategy, APF Canada

Part of APF Canada’s Indo-Pacific Initiative funded by the Government of Canada, the Indo-Pacific Forum brought together policymakers, business leaders, experts, and civil society representatives to take stock of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy three years on and develop practical recommendations to deepen strategic, economic, and security partnerships with the Indo-Pacific region.
